Command Conventions

Common syntax, access labels, and output behavior used throughout the Vigil command reference.

Access Labels

Read-only commands inspect state. Conditional write commands can write only when a documented write flag or approval path is present. Write commands require explicit mutation approval.

Output

Commands prefer human-readable text by default and expose JSON or other machine formats where the command contract lists them.

Plans

Plan-based workflows bind reviewed intent to repository fingerprints and refuse to apply when the inputs change.
