Research and provenance

Ideas have a history.

Here is what informed our work, what we adapted, and what Starlit built.

Starlit’s contribution

The accessibility packages use Starlit’s own shared preference controller, component modules and scoped styles. They draw on research across public systems and earlier work in EvansWiki and PayCal. Our interface studies adapt compositions from the InstaLanding collection with Starlit’s palette, content, system typography and local interactions. Each reference explains that lineage.

The portal structure takes inspiration from PayCal’s Transparency Hub: a philosophy overview, browsable topics, dated articles and visible verification limits. The implementation and content here belong to Starlit’s interface library.

Accessibility research

EvansWiki preferences gear

Native gear dialog, page shade, text size, line spacing, live preview, fullscreen and local reset.

What we folded into our thinking: Preserve the compact reading first model and contrast aware shade generation.

Fluid UI Options

Separate adjusters for type, contrast, spacing, links, inputs and table of contents.

What we folded into our thinking: Build small independent panels backed by a shared preference controller.

Azkhar accessibility preference widget

Presentation preferences, reading aids, local storage and isolated widget styles.

What we folded into our thinking: Use isolated component styles and explicit target adapters.

React accessibility widget

Grouped preferences, preset combinations and modal focus management.

What we folded into our thinking: Offer practical named presets with visible descriptions and individual overrides.

OpenNagish

A broad grouped palette of text, navigation and reading controls.

What we folded into our thinking: Use its breadth as a discovery checklist, with explicit supported effects.

NB Accessibility

Text and spacing controls, contrast, link emphasis, motion and a local reset.

What we folded into our thinking: Keep the package local and make every preference reversible.

Royal Access

Typography, visual preferences and access to accessibility information.

What we folded into our thinking: Provide an accessible help and local report component. Keep content repair in author workflows.

AccessKit toolbar

Feature cards, text controls and a pointer following reading strip.

What we folded into our thinking: Add a reading guide with a keyboard operated position control.

Sienna accessibility widget

Text, color, focus, pointer and motion adjustments in one interface.

What we folded into our thinking: Split the useful feature groups into separately imported modules.

ATbar

A modular reading toolbar, text size, colored reading surfaces and speech tools.

What we folded into our thinking: Provide a focused toolbar and an optional local voice player.

WP Accessibility

Skip destinations, focus visibility, image descriptions and controls for presentation.

What we folded into our thinking: Keep native navigation semantics and display authored image descriptions accurately.

ExtenderX accessibility tools

Preference combinations, readable text, visible headings and reduced motion.

What we folded into our thinking: Use reversible descriptive presets without inferring a disability or making safety claims.

MediaWiki accessibility for reading

Reader choices for typography and appearance, with presentation integrated into the site.

What we folded into our thinking: Adapt a designated content region instead of filtering the entire page.

Adapted interface studies

The template collection records InstaLanding as the source of the adapted interface compositions, and records the publisher’s MIT licensing declaration. That is the recorded provenance, not a new independent licence audit. The current examples use system fonts and local browser code. No external animation or widget library is required at runtime.

The original canvas fire reference mentioned a Rive community asset. Starlit’s studies use code drawn effects rather than that asset. No Rive file is included in this portal.

Starlit’s text moment effect is an original implementation prompted by the visible caption of Omar Farooq’s scratch file video. The original review did not gain access to full playback.

Reading and reusing examples

Research citations credit ideas. They do not transfer a third party licence, imply endorsement or make branding available for reuse. Preserve applicable source notices and attribution when adapting a study. This portal does not assign a blanket new licence to the collection or to Starlit’s brand assets.

The examples are readable in the browser and their actual CSS and JavaScript are served beside them. Each reference also includes HTML and PHP integration code. Contact Starlit if you need clarification about reuse.
